we all know Dukes like to disassemble, and this year, what with my snapped chain, burst rear tyre and all id thought youd like to know my latest... i was doing some sustained high speed testing (closed course under controlled test conditions) where the speedo hovered between 110 to 150 for about 40 minutes to find that this morning when i wheeled Bella the Beautiful Bitch out one of my nice new titanium sprocket nuts was missing! Must have flown off on the A46, i mean Bruntinghorpe proving ground..so i checked the rest and they were all quite loose....then i checked the fork pinch bolts..*gulp*...(dry mouth Da'Rimpler reaches for the socket set)... So now she's got 5 lush tit nuts and one rusty OE cast iron nut.... Takes me back to the days when i thought i was sliding the rear tyre to discover the rear wheel was finger tight.... Check your nuts....often. Now im hoping some nice vendor will sell me a single one instead of having to get bum raped and buy an entire set again. This happened when i was about to ride to Boston to pick up side pods for my lid due to me purchasing a shitty non gen visor (see thread)... Still, its better than the time i had the swingarm snap and disintegrate on my old Blade..(metallurgist at at Loughborough Unicasting his beedy on it through an electron microscope said the metal had 'dessicated'..but hey, thats what happens when you buy a Metmachex single sided swinger for a Blade.. Theres a pattern here...i might just stick to OE cast iron parts from now on....im on life number 12 of the 9 i thought i originally had.
Metmachex i think they originally started out as a double glazing firm in alfreton and i bought a jmc for my gpz they told me it would take 10wks and it took 19 and when it turned up it wouldnt fit hit the back of the engine and was to wide so had to make new spacers.Sometimes makes you wonder if we should just leave them alone and ride them err naahhhh.
out of my deep respect, nigh on love for you, im going to resist the temptation to descend into a pun down..my eyes were glazing over as it was...but on the subject of windows, i once saw a sheep dog get killed when someone threw a cantaloupe out of a window... very sad..made me feel quite meloncollie.
