Ducati Carbon & carbon tank & ideas

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Etherion, Jan 20, 2014.

  1. Hello,

I recently purchased a carbon tank for an idea for a project for my 1098r and am now a bit stuck.

There are 3 parts of the problem and am wondering whether anyone had any ideas or advice.

    1. I am thinking of also sourcing carbon side panels and nose cone which i will have painted with minimal exposed carbon. Therefore, due to the minimal exposure of carbon, I probably wouldn't go with ilmberger and look at zero limits or others. Hell, it will still cost close to 700 for nosecone and side panels. Has anyone had dealings with them and whether their product stands up to scrutiny? Or are there others which will get me side fairings and nosecone for around that?

    2. Regarding the tank itself - If i paint it red, how do i keep the red with carbon without overbearing? Ideally, it would be red with the ducati letters exposed. However, this may or may not match. Should i just paint the tank in brushed alloy with carbon strands?

    3. If i managed to source carbon nose cone and side panels, I have the option to actually respray the whole bike as the 1098r tail is a carbon unit. Just wondering with paint schemes. Do a 1098r superleggera scheme? lol.

  2. Wish I could help. Im sure somebody will be around in a bit :)

  3. Im around and I wish I could help more than him ^ . A bit of exposed carbon surrounded by Ducati red is almost orgasmic.
