Ducati Carbon Hugger

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by andyp79, Dec 4, 2012.

  1. Hi folks.

Does anyone have a photo of an 848 or 1098/1198 with the Ducati Performance carbon hugger fitted?

I have spec'd one as part of my bike order but it's hard to picture what it will look like fitted. I see there are loads of alternatives out there but I want a reasonably small one, without it being too small to keep the shock relatively clean.

    Cheers.

  2. The small huggers keep next to sweet FA off the shock. If you want to use one of them I'd get a shock tube too. I got a long hugger, and that kept the worse off, but not all.

Or, alternatively don't ride it in the wet. Then you won't need a hugger.

  3. Ok ta. I'll see what options I can find before I get the bike. Think I prefer the looks of the wee ones but want to try and save the shock a bit too.

Gives me an excuse to carry out research online and look at pics of Ducatis and carbon fibre!

And this is the short one

The R&G shock tubes aren't too bad. Just a bit fiddily to get on.

I've ditched my hugger now as it vibrated slightly and marked the swing-arm.

  5. I've got a DP one on mine....I'll look for a photo....they are by far the best looking, but do f*ck all to be honest.

I don't think I'd change it for any other type tho, i do clean my shock still, but I'd rather go without and do more cleaning than go for a long one.

The pointed bit at the end is offset so it doesn't sit in the center of the wheel as you'd expect it to

  6. I've just ditched my DP shorty for a longer hugger, whether you ride in the rain or not stones and other road debri flying up from your rear tyre can reek havoc on your expensive suspension components, and carbon Termi's if you have them fitted.

  7. I bought a shorty one from the carbon king. Purely for aesthetic reasons

  8. Most people seem to have short one, but a long ones more functional .

  9. Double entendre

  10. You knew exactly what you were saying there

  11. Cheers for the input and photos everyone.

I really don't like the look of the longer ones so think I'll go with the smaller one that's on order and be prepared to clean ther undercarriage a fair bit. It's been the case with my last bike anyway so it's not going to be a new chore for me. If I'm anything like I was with the GSXR, which seems very likely, I'll be cleaning it nearly every ride anyway so I'll stay on top of the shock and if the Termis end up getting grief I'll see what I can do to stop it.

    Thanks!

  12. The cans don't get much grief, just spray. The shock and area by the vertical cylinder get small stones etc. it's not too much to clean and I wouldn't worry about it too much and just get out on the bike and enjoy it.:upyeah:

  13. I like this option!

I'll stick with what I've ordered and see how it goes. Still far too long to wait! Still... the best things and all that.

I think I might have to start a daily countdown on the fridge like we did when we were getting married and when Mrs. P was expecting our wee boy.
