The Ducati Museum in Bologna obviously has examples of significant machines produced from 1948 but there are a few gaps. Does anyone know of a bigger collection (especially road bikes) that is also open to the great unwashed?
Not an exclusive Ducati collection, but there’s bound to be a few there somewhere, the Barber Museum is on my bucket list... http://www.barbermuseum.org/
if everybody on this forum turns up on a airfield in the middle of England for just one hot weekend and theirs your f@@k off Ducati collectionWOW
Not ducati's,,, but i did visit the Sammy Miller museum last year in hampshire wellworth the visittruck loads of old bikes to see
Museums... might I suggest if you're interested in visiting bike related establishments you join the British Motorcycle Charitable Trust. For £20/year you get access free of charge to some excellent facilities. Visit the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu once and you've more than got your money back! It's excellent value and supporting a good cause! http://www.bmct.org/index.html
I went to a Moto Italia day at Sammy Millers a few years back, well worth a visit. That day they were running some of the old race bikes.
Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming. Went to Sammy Miller's Italian ride-in day in 2016, very enjoyable. The museum is superb. The date for 2018 is 15th July https://sammymiller.co.uk/events.php The Italian festival at Brands Hatch is definitely worth a visit (19th August 2018), there is a parade lap for Italian bikes: http://www.festivalitalia.com/
There's an Italian Bike ride in at Sammy Miller's on 15th July this year, maybe we should do a meet up... Oops, just seen it mentioned above. Mind you, I'm happy to ride over to Sammy's any time. And just realised I'm at the Festival of Speed on the 15th July so won't be at Sammy's that day!
