V4 Ducati Connect ...

Even if it does connect and work reliably being tied to one sat nav provider is a worry. Most bikers I know and tour with use Garmin devices. How easy is it load routes into Sygic and on the road will this differ significantly from the routing when using a Garmin? This would be a frustration for me and a reason I'd likely stick with an external device.

 

Yep +1 I don't need another bit of "near technology" that works well...sometimes

 

Not to mention having your phone permanently plugged in to the tank cubby hole while its slaved to the dash running, navigation software. As I think this is how it works?

 

I have downloaded https://www.myrouteapp.com/en/produ...MDqmgQDinOLdMgmxUvUgEF-WAifunK6waAulBEALw_wcB this allows planning of routes, like Garmin basecamp, it also allows you to transfer the routes from basecamp in this app, the myrouteapp then when used works through the Sygnic app, I have my Garmin 595LM still but will give this ago when I get the new bike, fingers crossed it all works

 

I would bite the hand off Myroute App if I thought the combo of the software and Ducati/Phone hardware would work reliably. Have you tested this BoBmg? Can you do multiple route shape complex routes?

 

Not tested it yet on a bike, but planned a route with Myrouteapp and it all worked on my phone through the Sygic app, it will be one of the first things I test when I get the bike, got a big trip planned for June!

 

I'm a dedicated MRA user, I a bought lifetime sub last year when it was €99. Will be interesting to see how Sygic compares in terms of the same route on a Garmin.

Still not convinced of the full on integration they're going for here despite using Google Maps Directions on my car's head unit via Android Auto. From what I can see there's a definite trade-off in the dash 'real estate' and information with it running.

I hope, for those that use it, that Ducati have fully tested, made it completely glitch free and once paired it just connects. Will let the early adopters judge that. I found the phone connectivity on the 1260 lacking and temperamental, not that I tried that hard TBH as my then Garmin 590 did a better job.

Not saying that I wouldn't embrace the system if it works as well as a dedicated GPS. Not going to be an issue in the reasonably foreseeable future for me. Might be looking to an evolution of the V4 Mutley in two to three years maybe, by which time a lot will probably change.

 

I used to use Sygic on my Android phone linked to the Sena in my helmet. I have spent many years working with GPS systems both as a pilot and when designing GPS system fits for aircraft.
I now use the BMW connected app with my R1250RS and do all the planning on the phone with the downloaded maps. When the phone with me on the bike, I can use the bike controls and the TFT to navigate to destinations as it just uses the phone maps.
Love it and now see no reason to have a stand alone GPS.

 

Sounds positive, hopefully this will work equally as good on the Ducati system!!
