1260 Ducati Daignostic - Option Worth Considering

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Relentless, Jul 17, 2022.

  1. I've always worked on my own bikes. I've always had diagnostic kits for my bikes.

Ducati are a pain when it comes to full function diagnostic options outside of Texa and a serious financial investment : unamused:

So I started looking around for a non-Texa option that was afordable('ish) and fuctional - I wanted code read / reset, live data, service light (all types) reset.

I ended up with the ODBProg Motodiag 100 (CLICKY)

I've already made use of it so thought I'd post about it here to others as a possible option to consider.

It talks to all systems and can test most individually (on my 1260) i.e. Coils, TPS, Brake / clutch switch etc. I tested the TPS last night and you can hear the motors on the bike working up and down the % openings in 10% increments

It does live data viewing and recording too which is always handy.

I also opted for a multi-manufacturer kit (BMW, Ducati, Honda, KTM, Yamaha). Figured I stood more chance of keeping it rather than having to sell it if / when I don't have a Ducati :p. It has a crazy long "compatibility" too.

To give an example, it'll do service lamp resets for:

    Multistrada 620
    Multistrada 1000
    Multistrada 1100
    Multistrada 1200
    Multistrada 1260
    Multistrada 950

    The Multistrada V4 isn't listed.

This unit is functionally the same as the OBDStar unit (they're all Android 5 based) - I just prefer buttons for a workshop tool (touch screens just get mucky).

I picked the unit up for just over £400 so it's not a small investment by any means, but it is a whole lot less than the Texa option.

I'll take some pics of the unit and add them in here later on.

Anyway, I thought it was worth mentioning as there's very little info around about these sorts of tools out there. It took me quite while, and an awful lot of you-tubing / manual comparisons to feel comfortable enough to take the plunge!

  2. Oh and I have nothing to do with the manufacturer and you’re more than welcome to totally ignore me

I just know how much effort it took for me to find something I considered on a par with the GS-911 I had for my K1300S (which was awesome). This unit gets about as close to that as I think is possible with these bikes.

  3. There is a thread in the Multistrada section about the OBD Star. A few of us bought 'em recently. They are just brilliant :) Also around 400 quid

  4. I missed that due to the thread title : unamused:

I’ll link it here so it’s cross referenced for anyone searching:

  5. Yep, also have the OBDStar, same software. Great device. Mine is Ducati only, the multi-brand version of that is far more than £400 though.

  6. Anyone live near Maidenhead with this software.... can I pop around and get my service light reset ? :p

  7. Yeah, it did start out as a Melco question and I couldn't edit the title to be more relevant when it developed :)

  8. Probably too far, I'm in Cheltenham. What bike?

  9. Its my 1260.
Cheltenham is a bit too far for a spin to get a light reset, but thanks for the offer :upyeah:

  10. OK, was confused by the fugly rear end (think that's what it is) in your avatar pic. No other indication in your profile as to what bike you own.

No worries, offer still stands if you can't find anyone closer or happen to be passing through/nearby.

  11. Yep... I need a newer picture !
