Hi Martin from Northampton currently riding a Kawasaki KH500 but looking for a Darmah that needs a bit of work ie not too price please get in touch.
I'm not the right man to give advice on this kind of bike. I have no idea what's good and what they're worth.
only general really, hopefully people will pick up on your thread - is it @Wally who owned one back in the day?
Not me. One of my mates did though. The Conti straight-throughs meant you had the kettle boiled and tea made before he rang the doorbell. Loud.
I does look to be pretty much all there but the pictures show it needs a lot of work cosmetically... "non runner spares or repair" says it all. new rectifier so it'll probably need a complete rewire & the original Bosch ignition pickups et al will probably be shot. no front indicators or dash lights. hydraulic clutch lever but no photo of the RHS so don't know how it may have bodged into the cases to allow it work. stripes on seat base & tank don't line up plus the seat is non standard. difficult to see what carbs he's running but the oem air boxes aren't fitted. it's difficult to tell but I'm not entirely sure the 'silencers' are contis. I've seen then up for a grand on ebay before now. engine - with no clue as to what issues it may have, a full strip would probably be in order... ho hum. Have you had any experience of a bevel drive engine? Of course, nothing is insurmountable but how deep are your pockets, how long is your patience & how much do you really want to have one of these. Oh, & if you do take it on then the first thing your must do is remove the side stand and throw it out of the car window on the journey home. Btw I have just come out of recommissioning my own Darmah that I have owned for ~35 years so if you do get one I can offer hours of advice on valve shimming, rewiring & leaking valve guides.
