Well it's happened, after months of speculation Ducati Dublin have closed down, it's a shame, but it's a sure sign of the times and the squeeze has happened, luxury items and all that, people just can't afford these toys anymore, well not enough to sustain a business anyway. So that's it no Ducati Dealer on the Island of Ireland.
That sucks. Never good to see business close. Thoughts to the team that worked there. Although I can't help but wonder why, if like you say, they were the only dealer in Ireland. Are UK bikes being imported?
Hi Rob, Yes...UK bikes come in all the time, second hand mind, but that only helps to increase the service revenue, buying a new bike in the UK or Europe would save you little or nothing. I think to be honest, the company bit off more than they could chew, over the last few years the dealership morphed into a Alpha & Fiat dealer also, and focus was definatley divided and diluted. The were not looking after the Ducastisti in terms of service...but on top of that, this country is in the toilet, much worse than the UK, and not far off what's going on in Greeece....biking is a luxury now for a lot of people, and we all know Ducati ownership costs a little bit more than most.
Looks like the dealership has been secured by the current Harley/Triumph Dealers...spose its better than no Dealer.
There is a ducati dealer on this island guys, Millsport. they are friendly, helpful & keen to do business. Like the rest of us, they are probably feeling the economic pinch too, but polish up your bartering tactics before you visit and I am sure you will deal with them
Hey Cheers Stu....I never knew about them, thanks for the information...located in the home town of some great road racers to booth. I just found out that Harley Davidson Dublin (Red Cow Ballymount) will be taking on the Ducati brand, bikes should be in a separate showroom sometime in April. Eoin
I had very good service from Ducati Dublin when I worked in Cork for over a year...bit of a pain trailering my bike all that way when it was buggered but they sorted it out no problem... that was when they were in a dingy little shop in Terenure! Good eggs they were though for sure!
Hey George, I agree when they were in Terenure and then moved up to Oak Road Motopoint, service was first class, no problem, but everything went downhill when they moved out to Goatstown, some mechanics and sales service people left...I don't know how many time I call there to get a answering machine, and nobody called me back, I also called in put parts on order, never got them...and I would say there are plenty of other stories to go along with that over the last few years. Shame.
