I know this has been touched on but i wanted to try and get some clarity I remember seeing a post a few weeks ago saying that people who had purchased a Ducati bike after a certain date (early 2016 builds i believe), needed to apply for the 3rd year extended warranty before the end of September as the offer was ending So is that now it for extending warranty on any Ducati other than new? Its just that I've been in discussions with a couple of dealers in regards to their ex demo 959's and was previously told as they were classified as demo bikes, technically they hadn't been registered to a 1st owner yet and therefore could have warranty extended. Now it seems that I'm being told that those demo bikes cant have warranty extended as it all ended a few weeks back at the end of September. Ive questioned that on the basis of them not having a first owner but it seems I'm wasting my time So what is it? Extension only on a brand new untouched bike? Or no extensions anymore at all? I just find it strange as the demo bikes are a slightly better deal in some respects, but when you cant even buy an aftermarket warranty on them, and the manufacturer itself won't offer anything, it kind of takes the value out of it. Id just be reluctant to be in a financial agreement that lasts longer than the warranty available if that makes sense. BMW as an example allow dealers to add a full 24 month genuine BMW warranty even on 2nd hand bikes as long as they've passed back through a Motorrad dealers workshop for checks.
My 1299 was registered on the 20th December 2015 and I've been informed it doesn't qualify for the extended Ever Red scheme. My assumption is that it applies to bikes registered from 1st Jan 2016.
I just don't understand the logic, especially when considering buying an ex demo Ducati (practically new) or even a fairly new Ducati thats come to the end of a PCP 24/36 month term. I mean how do they expect to entice the churn of bikes throughout the dealer network if a simple thing like peace of mind warranty is so hard to come by? The problem is Warranty Direct don't even list the 959/1299 yet so i cant get a quote from them. The 899 they list even when inputted at less than 2 years old still comes out at £443.01 (why the penny I'm not sure) Surely an ex demo bike should be ok to cover? Its been at an accredited dealers since its PDI with Ducati trained mechanics They must have enough faith in the bloody things to not worry about claims?
Yes , I was told it's bikes that were registered from the start of 2016 and are still owned by the original first owner. This ended on 30th September 2016 after which time Ever Red warranty can only be purchased on a new bike at the time of registration (purchase).
