Ducati F04 Factory 749 Special Racing Frame | eBay Anyone know anything about these? I asked the seller for more info, he said: "Hi there the frame is the same dims as the 749r 999r frame but the head angle is 22.5deg these frames where done by Peirobon hence has the logo and date and angle on the frame. But this frame has no chassis number on it so it can replace any frame I suppose." Can't say I've heard of the 22.5 degree head angle frames, 23.5 with 30mm offset was sharp enough for me, but I'm no Lanzi!
I think he's made a typo as you are correct and for that price I would expect the head stem adjuster as well plus a lot more provenance
Dude, that's a cheap race frame that is. I priced a Pierobon up at near £3K for my 996 a few years back.
surely the tubular section at the front of the frame is what it is with most ducats 24 degrees..... and the "head angle is adjusted with an insert into the tube of the frame, hence you could go 23.5 or 24.5 with an eccentric...or a parallel insert ( a cheeky racers trick) to obtain the best of both world 24 degrees.... Why would you make the frame at the front 22.5 degrees....what with a straight insert or an insert to get it back to 23.5 or 24...degrees? me thinks thats tosh.....
and even if it was remotely true....its a pierobon frame, cock all to do with the factory and F04..... it hasn't even got the upper braces......
So? It's a 749 frame, not 999RS. And AFAIK, Pierobon has made quite a lot of the Ducati "Factory racing" frames...
My 749R ex Riders BSS bike had the vin on the headstock. If this is one of the frames from them, why hasn't this one? The mod it did have was, as @andyb says a 24deg insert. This was confirmed by another owner of another BSS Riders bike and Rick Hackett, who built the bikes. F0 numbers were never designated to wss/bss frames. Pierobon never made frames for the wss/bss bikes, as they were made by MT and Verlicchi. As they were production frames not special race modded ones.
999RS is production racer version of 999 from what i know. The type a private race team could buy. F series are factory race bikes and only generally come out to public once they've moved on to newer things.
Here you can see the difference: 999RS has different tank mounting brackets. extra frame tubes and other steering damper mounting. And an cross bar section were you can only mount an RS airbox.
