That's a lot for a replica. I met him at Spa last year, he had some nice stuff. Wasn't too keen on a bit of haggle, but I did blag some free stickers off him!
If we're brutally honest, it wasn't such an amazing looking bike, was it? £15k? Well I wouldn't give you that for it, even if I had it. I bet you wouldn't get that for a mint 851 and I know which I'd prefer.
As advertised, 'Built New 2012'. He's very busy buying Pantahs and building these - i.e. as Nick says, Replicas, new frames, new bodywork, new wheels, new harnesses and engine conversions. If you're happy to pay £15k for a replica with a dressed up Pantah engine as the only component to have come from Ducati, (swingarm too?) they're excellent value, if not, excrement value.
I can understand the time and work that goes into building these, but at the end of the day they are replicas. Certainly not worth the asking price, however it's dressed up. If i was trying to coax a buyer into parting with £15,000, i think i would be spending a bit more time and effort in getting descent photo's as well. Those are appalling.
Well a Bostrum rep and an F1 are very different beasts and entirely down to personal preference. The fact remains that it's an F1 copy and not an original bike. A proper dyed in the wool F1 will fetch a lot of money as there were only low numbers made and it was the last Taglioni designed bike. I'd take the original F1 any day (I did actually)
