Ducati Leathers

  1. Need to go up a size on my road leathers, took a look on eBay this morning hoping to track down a second had set and new ones are listed at £200-£300, clearly these must be copies? Anyway of telling real from copies, other than price, must be a nightmare looking for second hand ones as you wouldn't know from the advert whether they were real or copy unless the seller made that clear, and some might not

  2. Cheapest ive seen even on sale in Ducati was about £750 I think so thats probably a starting price if you actually want them to survive a spill

Bennetts bike social did something on it a while ago:

  3. Thank you, confirm my suspicions, makes buying second hand perilous, all my track leathers have been second hand....

  4. Really interesting piece, the suit was ok, the protectors were the issue, plus tax and import duty avoidance

  5. Its pretty easy to spot the difference Ivor; the copies fall apart when you throw a leg over the bike too quickly and the Ducati official branded fall apart when you have a low speed tumble.
By eye, you can normally notice poor quality stitching, bad design of panels, poor fit and finish and low grade leather relying on airbags or foam armour to do the actual protecting. Not sure what the copies are like though.

  6. In the (long) video above it was the fake armour that was the issue, the leather and stitching passed the tests

  7. I know this all too well, presently trying to shed a few pounds to get into my leathers a bit easier. I fear it may be a battle I will lose.

  8. Ah yes, welcome to the shrinking leathers club...
I bought brand new size 50 EU two-piece Dainese leathers in the pandemic. These turned out to be smaller than the Dainese sizing chart would suggest, I ended up selling them online by taking lots of pictures, including all the authenticating labels inside the garments.
Following this I bought the next size up two-piece leather set on eBay.
I have since outgrown these leathers and have just bought an almost new Alpinestars one piece second hand on Ebay.
If a seller is genuine they will send extra pictures on request of the lining, labels and any other detail you want to check out. eBay usually has money back guarantees that are useful.
I would suggest checking out the genuine article on the website so you are familiar with what you're looking at.
Reading this reply, I probably just need to get more exercise and eat less cake
