Ducati Mot Around Berkshire

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by salmore, May 6, 2014.

  1. Hi all,

Anyone know any good decent MOT places around Berkshire?
Someone somewhat lenient would be nice as my bike has a termi system on it and it is loud... last MOT the previous owner did had an advisory 'noisy exhaust'.

I need one this week if possible any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks,

  2. Thanks, I'm in Reading area, but I dont mind a bit of a ride to get there.

  3. Keith Manning used to be fairly accommodating, but I've not been there for some time now. Worth asking Ducati Reading perhaps?

  4. Newbury, Probike. Curly and Steve are almost deaf.

  5. the garage at sheffield on loddon just off a33 nr bramley

  6. Ducati main dealer?

  7. And in my experience, completely inconsistent in their testing. Could not recommend, I'm afraid.

  8. the garage only just in hants near long bridge mill roundabout wouldn't go anywhere else

  9. I'm near Reading and I tend to get my bike MoTs done at Finchampstead MoT centre

It seems to be an honest local business.

think they have a couple of bike testers (thier main business being cars) and Barry has always been quite pleasant to deal with, whereas last time I went there I got some other guy who was a bit grumpy, so I'm going to ask for Barry next time.

Never a failure with quite noisy DP exhausts (although nothing on them saying that they should not be used on the road).

The only thing I find unnerving is that they (in common with the place at Sherfield on Loddon - Nick Robinson MCs) don't bother to use any sort of paddock stand to lift the front of the bike to check headraces etc - they tilt it over onto the sidestand while asking you to hold the back to stop it falling over!

  10. A very easy 45 min blast down the A34 to Motorapido.?

  11. IIRC there isn't a noise test as part of the MOT. So worst case should be an advisory.

  12. Thanks all, great suggestions,
@Nelson: maybe not a noise test, but I just found out my can has a 'racing use only' on it :p

  13. Put a sticker on the bit that says 'racing use only'...

  14. just had my MOT done at a recommended guy in Reading. He said to put a sticker over it, then advised to put a couple stick on reflectors on the back (new regulation apparently). All good past that for another year.

  15. When I got mine done at riders in Bristol they told me to take the stock pipe along as well just in case they got a spot check.

  16. What I've done with mine- passed multiple mots - no comment.....

  17. Did same on one and only mot there. Interesting ride to/from with a pair of exhausts in a rucksack!

    Go elsewhere now......
