Needed to change my 916 paddock stand so I could use it on my new 1098, so put it up for sale and looked for a new one, then I found out there was a kit available from the Ducati dealers, so I ordered it and here's a quick "how to do it" thread with pics for anyone in the some position, I also bought some new bearings off ebay which cost me all of £3.50 posted, the conversion kit cost £41 and was simple to fix with a few basic tools, some pics............
Wish I knew about this kit when I moved from a monster 1100 to a 1098 SF; I sold my Ducati trackstand and bought an R&G one. Cost me considerably more than £40 too.
I just got a nylon bar from fleabay and had it turned to fit my 916 one. I just slip it off for my 916 and slide it on for my 1198. Simplez.
Does the sleeve not move away from the bearing side when you rotate the wheel when cleaning the chain or whatnot?
On mine it doesnt, I suspect it doesnt either of Taffs. Besides i use a long threaded bit of stud thru the wheel with a large washer to keep the thing secure.
The nylon sleeve has a bolt holding it on, great for the 1098, just take the bolt off and remove the sleeve and your ready for the 916 ;-)
