I was thinking about upgrading the seat before the trip the Alps in the Summer. Is the performance seat the same as the Comfort seat on a 2011 bike? I was looking at one when some of us met up earlier in the year, but I can only remember the Ducati Performance logo and it feeling more padded. Anyone got one for sale or one I can try?
Pretty sure the words are used interchangeably. Remember there are 2 versions though, there was a revision after the first couple of years. I have the later style seat on mine, the one that doesn't let in water and has a slightly shorter pillion to give the rider more room.
OK, thanks, I don't want to change the pillion seat though. Is this the right one? Struggling to find this in the UK. Ducati Multistrada 1200 Comfort Bench Touring Driver Bank Comfort Seat New | eBay Ducati site seems to list 2? Touring seat - Ducati Multistrada Accessories And this one which it also calls a Touring seat: Seat with lower seat height - Ducati Multistrada Accessories And there are 2 others called lower seat?
2012 comfort seat doesn't fit the earlier bikes. Comfort seat for earlier bikes fit the 2012 bike but there is an ugly gap between the ride and pillion seat. Comfort seat was definitely an improvement for me although it didn't stop my arse from snoring on long runs - or short ones for that matter. Andy
Andy has pics I supplied of the two seats - 2010 version vs 2012 version. You cannot use an early riders seat with a later pillion seat, because the overhang of the pillion seat is shorter and will expose the locating hole. You can however use a late riders seat with an early pillion seat, but if your fitting a late riders seat to an early bike, you need to also replace the locating peg to the later shorter version. both of the pictures for the first two links show early type touring seats (through holes with rubber grommets at the rear, carbon look weave to the sides). The touring seat isnt lower, it is a different shape, more rounded with less defined edges to it. The pillion touring seat has a more pronounced shape with a larger hump at the front. Hope that helps.
I tried an Airhawk seat last weekend. After I got the air volume in the seat right for my skinny arse, did a four hour ride, "brilliant". Had always resisted because they look a little daggy on the seat.
I have been told a pair of those padded pants the push bike riders use under you jeans makes a real difference, but I'm not much into Lycra.
Phew thanks - too many choices, my head is boiling... I think I'll just wear my cycling shorts underneath on long runs. I come from an Aprilia Tuono and you need to be HARD to put up with that 'seat', the Multi seat is an armchair in comparison.
