Hi Bit of advice please. One of my fork seals is leaking slightly so I am going to remove the forks -I've ordered a front head stock stand. Question is what is the size of the Hex bit socket I need to unscrew the spindle /axle bolt (assuming it is a Hex bit socket!) Many thanks Neil
I made mine from one of the long type locking wheel nuts (about 50mm).............I ran an extra bolt into it, loctited / crosspinned it, then filed the bolt head and nut down to fit the axle socket...........the hex part is about 20mm long and the measurement across the flats is roughly 13.5mm. It isn't an overtight fit, so 14mm may be possible................but mine works fine.
See?.......any closer and I would have missed.... But you can't really check your headstock bearings with the stand you have bought..... ...Should have made one like mine..........do a search.....
