Ducati Supersport 950 S - Eml And Power Loss

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Teo, Feb 1, 2024.

  1. Hi all,

I have bought my SS in October from Ducati Bournemouth with 1500 miles on the clock. I have rode the bike and added roughly 800 miles since I got it.
On the 31st of December 2023, while riding the bike, felt a massive drop in power, EML light flashing on the dash and really hard to ride, it felt like cutting off, engine sounded badly. I assume it is a sort of a limp mode.
Managed to get Ducati assistance on the call and send the bike to Ducati Chelmsford. After a while, they came back to me, scratching their head, the error points to a spark plug however the sparks are ok and they cannot find any other issue. They have replaced the sparks, their statement - we have run extensive tests and nothing else is wrong, one of the technicians took the bike for a ride and everything is fine.
They brought the bike home, however I was unable to test it due to a family bereavement. Managed to test her on the 25/01. In the garage, with the engine cold, left it run for a few mins, revved it - engine cuts off while in Neutral. The same thing happens when in 1st gear.
I thought I am an idiot and let the bike warm, took her for a ride. I rode no more than 3 miles and the symptoms are back, rending the bike unsafe and making me scream with anger.
I know it is still in warranty and they are supposed to fix it for free however all this incompetence is making me angry.
The initial dealer stated they will come and pick up the bike tomorrow, trying to fix it, however, I was wondering if any of you had any issues like this, could you please give me a hand in laying some info that I can pass to the dealer - nowadays I have to tell them what is wrong with my bike.
Please excuse the long post and my frustration.
Runt over, opened to discussions. :p

  2. I had similar happen to my SS. Turned out to be a stone in the exup motor mech.

  3. I doubt it would this the issue. They have diagnosed it last time and it was showing a sparks code. However, in my experience a spark never goes at 220 miles, or does it? And, if they have replaced the sparks, why does it still do it ?
