Ducati Uk Commute Not So Happy

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Lord Farquaad, Aug 9, 2018.

  1. Did anyone else on here enter the 2018 Ducati Uk Commute Happy competition? You had to post a picture on Twitter during the 2018 ride to work week, tagging Ducati Uk. They stated they’d judge the best picture and the winner would get a £500 Ducati voucher to spend. The results were supposed to be posted by the end of June.

    They weren’t.

I asked if I’d missed it and was told they’d announce a winner by the end of July.

    They haven’t.

Unless I’ve missed it, it appears Ducati Uk have just not chosen a winner.....unless someone tells me different?

I’m really quite annoyed. I use my bike to commute anyway, but I did make an effort to compose a nice picture in an iconic location, very early, one morning. The voucher would be very handy after having my Mutley pinched, towards bits on the new one.

Anyone got any knowledge of the winner? Or if it’s been forgotten?

  5. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect the UK office of a major automotive manufacturer to adhere to simple rules.......

Maybe they’re just having a cappuccino whilst they ponder.......

  6. The vouchers are kept in the warehouse with the OEM spare parts. All of this stuff has been moved to a new location hence the delays for everything - including the £500 voucher. The other problem is that the voucher is hand written using Ducati's finest engine paint - so the words keep flaking off!

  7. Oh don't get me started on the engine paint. Both my last 2 bike have fallen fouls of this

  8. lesson learned....freshly built cerakoted engine... 20180804_144416.jpg
This thing will be bomb proof. I Should be in charge of coatings and fixings at ducati....seems like an easy job...theyve constantly got it wrong for years and this is how you do it right....

  9. Nice job. I think my other half might complain if she came home and found me cooking the engine in the oven! I presume you did it in a commercial oven of some sort?

  10. Engine strip. Handed the heads, barrels, crank cases, exhausts and a load of other bits to a pro...

  11. I got the voucher weeks ago, not sure there was much publicity planned.

  12. were you able to use the voucher?

  13. An masse on an incited lump it wouldn't be much...hell I'd pay an extra 500 if the bike didn't rot in the first 6 months...

  14. All the cost is in the masking off...literally 2 thirds or more...

  15. Xylan as a coating wont cost much more...I've had 2 engines done..in fact my mates gs1000 motor was cheaper than my 525....less masking off...

  16. There is a reason why all manufacturers don’t, and it will be limited supply, cost and delay.

  17. 600 to get it coated....my mates gs1000 motor cost 500 ( nearly 3 times the physical size ) but that's my point....the cost is all in the masking off...to blast the cases etc etc....xylan I do know is so thin you can coat the insides too...my 525 is coated internally...
