1 month ago I left my bike for its 15K service and a couple of small warranty jobs (coolant+light). I left it for the week but due to one of the "warranty" jobs it's still there Rear light dropped down from its mount while on my way back from Italy and I noticed and taped it back in place at the Chunnel. This to me was a warranty job as it had not taken any knocks, etc. Dealer referred it to DUK who wanted photos and then apparently had to refer it to Bologna. The dealer says off the record that in his opinion it was broken internally due to fatigue (we all know how much the rear lights shake). Rather than have it bonded back in place I want it fixed properly and am prepared to wait it out......I have always had good service from DUK on any previous claims so am left wondering if they are trying to get their claims figures matrix down for their new German masters  Anyone else had this kind of slow non decision with a potential warranty claim?
Mine went to dealer for coolant change on 9th Oct, and they picked up the dashboard issue with the glowing lights, not heard from them since.
SMC have a new dash in for my bike - it's booked in on the 23rd - I'm actually in no rush to get it done as I don't tend to ride at night so it's not all that obvious under normal circumstances.....might be worth asking if they've had a batch of them in?
Thanks Bob, to be honest i have doubts about having it done. At the moment it is not that bad in daylight & it comes with all the issues of the mileage and service indicators being out.
I'm with you Nick - would like them to give me the new dash so I can just pass it on to the new owner when and if I ever sell it!
Get it done guys. When it's time to sell any buyer would want plenty of money off for a problem like that.
I agree Get it done, correct documentation and a dealer stamp in the sevice book showing the dash change is the way to go !
Kirky, This referral to Ducati for a decision tallies in with what I've been told. I'm having trouble with a clunking from my Ohlins forks which the dealership is struggling to sort out. Its had the usual shimming done but that failed to cure it so the remedy was a new fork leg. They said that authority for this had to be sought from Bologna first before they could go ahead (not surprising really as they're £1300 a pop for each fork leg). It took about a week and half to get that authority and order the fork leg. All in all it took about 2 1/2 weeks for the job to get done. Not too bad in my opinion. Although the new leg sorted 90% of the noise out there's still a residual noise which they can't pin down. The service manager has actually recorded the noise and is sending it to the Ducati technical department for analysis before they will authorise any further work. He thinks that the other fork leg will need replacing but again he's waiting for authority. This was last Saturday and if it goes to form I should know something by the end of this week.
When my 15,000 mile service was done the other week. I had the rear brake modification done and the front forks shimmed at the same time as the service. The rear brake is better, the forks aren't. The coolant was also changed. While the covers were off the heads, the dealer noticed excessive wear / damage to the camshafts - they arranged for all 4 camshafts and all 8 followers to be replaced under warranty. I didn't get a chance to see them but I assume someone at Ducati at least looked at some photos before approving the replacement. The dealer also replaced the suspension ECU, having spotted some DES Preload errors logged in an ECU (which one?). I had this error about 5 times before the 600 mile first service. I informed the dealer about these errors at the time. I've not seen any this error again in the last 2 years / 15,000 miles and I know it was working OK because I could feel the change in ride height when changing from Urban/Solo to Touring/Solo (when at a stand still). So better late than never. The bike was initially booked in for 2 days, but additional warranty work took this out to 2 weeks. [The dealer was Ducati Aylesbury]
Decision from Ducati should be within a few days ? Chase ur dealer something not sound right. .. Re above post, where dealer did a good job pls name ?
Have now had word from Sycamore that Ducati Bologna have approved the work (after 3+ weeks consideration) and the part is on order so hope to see the bike back soon. Now off to NEC to look at the new shiny ones..... PS That's the first positive report I've seen of OYB Aylesbury. Do they have a new team?
