Either the side-stand switch needs adjusting back out (it's on a screw thread), it needs a good squirt of WD40 and the plunger given a damn good prodding or . . . . it's knackered
......screwing in more.......it breaks contact when the plunger is pushed in by the stand lug when the stand is up.... ....check the switch wires in their connectors just up in front of the left (alternator) casing....where the carb overflows hang down.
Just try pushing the plunger pin in when the stand is up and see if the light goes off...........sometimes the pin can wear so that it doesn't get pushed back in......... ......the rear brake light switch is similar and mine was worn, so I made a brake lever 'stop' screw with a raised centre to make sure it does switch off.
