Dumb Ass Question!!!!

  1. Simple one, the triangle red warning light on the dash, what's it for - can't remember!!! Dooh!!

  2. It means the sidestand is down on mine........

  3. OK thanks. Next question, what would cause it to stay on when the stand is up?

  4. Either the side-stand switch needs adjusting back out (it's on a screw thread), it needs a good squirt of WD40 and the plunger given a damn good prodding or . . . . it's knackered ;)

  5. ......screwing in more.......it breaks contact when the plunger is pushed in by the stand lug when the stand is up....

....check the switch wires in their connectors just up in front of the left (alternator) casing....where the carb overflows hang down.

  6. Thanks Sam, I'll try them all (knowing this bike wd40 will be required).

  7. Will try those also thanks.

  8. Just try pushing the plunger pin in when the stand is up and see if the light goes off...........sometimes the pin can wear so that it doesn't get pushed back in.........

......the rear brake light switch is similar and mine was worn, so I made a brake lever 'stop' screw with a raised centre to make sure it does switch off.

  9. Get rid of it, both of mine are gone, bloody things!!

  10. And I have a spare..........;)

  11. So I i if I have a look, I've also got one from a 636 ninja too some where if anyone wants it?
