848 Dyno Run - Power Commander Needed?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Phykell, Jun 24, 2014.

  1. Hi,

I asked my local place about doing a dyno run on an 848 EVO after fitting some Termignonis, filter and ECU, etc. They said it's something they could do but they'd need me to provide them with the software and, if not, they'd recommend that I should fit a PowerCommander.

The PowerCommander sounds like extra expense that I could spend elsewhere. Is there any software available that I can provide them with instead?

    Thanks :)

  2. depends. If you are likely to do more work, change more things, get a PC and have that tuned. If to, its about the same all in to get a custom map which most say is better

You can just get a flash done, to term DP chip, cheapest of all and ChrisW and Antonye both offer these services I think, as do some dealers

  3. Thanks, I don't think I'll be doing anything else to it. I've assumed that the ECU that's part of the Termignoni package (silencers, ECU and filter) will be sufficient but I think I've read on here that it's probably worth a dyno run and possible remap afterwards to iron out any further issues.

  4. you can just get a flash, which will put in the right ballpark for fuelling, but always better to have more. But its sub£100 v £450...

  5. If you havn't laid out the folding for a PC yet, the best value is certainly to take the bike to Chris and get it on the dyno and a custom map. The best money i have ever spent on my 1098s (apart from a custom suspension set up). A PC has nowhere near as many options in it as your ECU has. If memory serves me right, a PC can't be mapped below 3500RPM ? Which means, a lot of the slow speed running would still be rough and jerky. Now that Chris has done mine and mapped the ECU, it's as smooth as a babies botty (or even that 26 year old i drooling over the other day :D )
