916 Early 916 Pankl Rods

Mine is early 1995 and doesn't have pankl rods.

 

They look steel to me

 

I thought early Pankl H rods were steel?? Could be wrong.
Bit hard to tell with the deposits on them

 

I've pankl installed in a 1997 916 model,but were added later in 1999,so i guess maybe not on a standard motorbike.

 

Having seen a lot of pankl parts in my life. Those rods in the picture don't look anything like the finish I'd expect to see.

 

That's because they're Not the real deal,should be in Titanium metal.

 

The 1st 916 Strada's had "H" section rods, those in your pic's look more like standard 851/888 "H" section rods to me.
Pankl's were usually only fitted to the SP/SPS models.
Clean them up and they might have PANKL marked on them, but from the machine/finish they look like 851/888 items.
Don't worry if they aren't PANKL's as the standard 851/888 rods were far superior to the later "I" beam 916 rods.

Not so Pankl made steel "H" section race rods before they made Titanium ones.

Thanks Steve,i didn't know that information as my build sheet says the word "Titanium",everyday on here is a learning one and very rewarding.
