Ebay Seat Cover Post 99 Ss....opinions?

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by gdbd59, Jan 22, 2016.

  1. I would try and get a cowl instead if it was me...... what if the match was bad? I dont like them personally.

  2. No, I've decided against a cowl. A change to black rather than the grey, or black/red.

  3. I think the black red will not look great, Ive seen them and they look rubbish imho. Get a black seat

  4. Can you expand on 'rubbish' a bit....?

  5. Black with red piping looks good like corbin image.png

  6. Not my personal taste, & I won't be buying a whole new seat, but thanks for input.

  7. It's not a perfect job (although decent enough) but I did my 900 SS seat myself, cost me £10[IMG]

  8. Of course; they are obviously not part of the bodywork and therefore dont really match. I dont see the point, its like an inferior way of representing a cowl, hence my earlier suggestion. If you want to recover I would just get plain black. Thats my opinion, it can be done cheap, Ive done a Bandit seat before and all you needs a staple gun and you can get the fabric easy.

  9. Presumably a vinyl, Phil.....where'd you get it?

  10. The pics I've seen on the web of the pre-injection SS with the red rear look ok to me, & I'm going to be adding white & green to the seat side-panels either in paint or by wrapping, but would like to either get opinions on either the ebay ad' mentioned or any alternative before deciding what to do with the side panels. The fairing has a large 'tricolore' scheme already.

  11. Yes, vinyl. It was on eBay, just advertised as seat cover material. It's a bit a git to do, get the material good and warm, a hair drier helps. Try item number 331760504978 - that's where I got mine.

I've done a couple before and it was still a bit tricky, but it's not impossible if you are patient.

  12. Ok Phil, thanks.....got the item. Patience though......hmm.....got an ebay listing for that.....lol

  13. The advert says to use glue, but I used glue and staples. Anchor the front and back first, with just a tiny bit of tension then work the sides. Be prepared to have to pull staples out, re position and re staple... It can be a little frustrating

  14. Ok Phil....it's on here for reference. Thanks.

  15. I can highly recommend Vaughan at Custom Classic & Retro in Loughborough near Leicester. He reupholstered the Corbin seat on my SS and did a great job for about £100.

  16. Ok ck, thanks.

  17. Whatever the methodology, it needs to be plain black or dark grey. No piping, no stitch marks, no decals/ logos, no colour coding and no Italian flags.....

  18. Maybe it needs to be on yours, Rich, but we're all different.

  19. Just my opinion. You're entitled to it.
