ebay woes

  1. Well not fair to blame ebay more the numpties that either cant post the correct item or package it properly or the postal system, namely ham fisted sorters and posties.

Lately I've had an item that hasnt been delivered , enquired and "yes we'll post another. Still no joy. Asked for a refund ,completely ignored.
2nd parcel split open due to not being secured with tape over ends (contents made a hole)
3rd completely wrong product, and I couldnt even tell you what it is (I ordered a clutch cover) in fact it's two things ,which look like the covers from a Harley set of rear suspension.
FFS incompetence is the bain of ebay, tossers. Rant rant rant ---.

  2. I feel your pain chap...
Luckily (some might say), I travel in the UK for my job so I tend to buy things I can collect and cut out the waiting and idiotic mistakes, plus it saves over-inflated postage charges.:upyeah:

  3. I have - by and large - had good service from eBay?

However - occasionally, law of averages and all that - you will get someone that thinks its fine to post heavy/sharp/awkward objects by putting them in an envelope, etc...

1 - missing item, fill in the "resolve a problem/item not recieved" link in the "more actions" dropdown at the right of the listing you bought? If they again dont respond, Paypal will blackmark them and refund you anyways! :upyeah:

2 - probably too late but take photos of it all hanging out and send them to the seller as an add-on to their Paypal address?

3 - same link as problem 1.

  4. im currently on a 90 day suspension imposed by ebay for, get this..no reason whatsoever.
i called the nice girl with the squeaky american english accent who couldnt shed any light on the situation or reverse the 'decision'.. i wouldnt mind but it was imposed while i was in hospital so i wasnt even using ebay at the time..wtf?
no biggie though coz ebay stinks. it used to be an auction site (going back a bit now), now its 'ecommerce'. i generally only use ebay to browse then i contact the shop directly and buy it from there. youre still protected so theres absolutely no advantage using ebay. the ONLY time its any good is when buying that hard to find item from an individual-just like it used to be in the beginning....when it was good. now though of course, most of the private sellers dont really bother with it anymore (like me) because of ebays draconian attitudes and inflated fees. then of course as you mentioned, there are the numerous idiots who lurk on there.
by and large im pretty much done with ebay except for using it as a shop window.

  5. I've had the same problem with both buyers and sellers. Lots don't pay then ask where their stuff is (wtf!) and lots of sellers say they've posted when they haven't.

Just recently my nephew broke his iPhone screen so I said I'd get one and replace it for him. I ordered the more expensive one from a UK seller as it said they did "same day dispatch", and paid extra for Royal Mail First Class Recorded, because I wantd it ASAP. A week later and it hadn't arrived, so they said wait again so I did. 10 days after buying it still hadn't turned up so I filed with ebay and to their credit they did refund straight away and said I could keep the screen if it arrived but they never gave a tracking number. Nearly a month later and it still hasn't turned up!

Then there was the guy, who is probably registered on this forum, who bought some stuff off me and demanded that I left feedback first or he would "neg" me. I explained that it was my policy to only leave feedback after buyers had left feedback as I've lost count of the number of people who no longer bother with feedback. I always leave feedback when the stuff that I buy arrives, so I think that's fair. He went into a big rant and in the end left neutral feedback saying my aftersales was appalling! Then I noticed the wording on his auctions saying that he would only leave feedback after the buyer had left feedback - exactly what I was doing! WTF! Bit hypocritical! He still didn't get feedback though!

Having said that, I did pick up an original DP / MS Productions 1098 carbon fibre front mudguard with some very minor marks below the mounting bolts, last week for ... £16 !!

  6. Mostly I like ebay.
'spect we all have a horror story to two to tell.
I only have one neg and that was from a complete f'ing moron of a late payer!
That would be my main gripe, ebay won't get involved with disputes, said it was up to me to kindly request said f'ing idiot removed the neg feedback.... Yeah right!
I'd rather ram wasps up my arse!

  7. Some guy got super narked with me because I made him an offer lower than what he wanted! Gave me a lecture about how I knew what it was worth and reported me to eBay for abusing him. Ps the item did have make an offer option

  8. When I was flogging my evo I had a bloke in Ireland border line pestering me.
    Kept e-mailing me telling me how;
    1. He was hard up and couldn't possibly afford the asking price.
    2. It was I that was being unreasonable not selling the bike to him at a price he could afford.
    3. Was prepared to get on a plane and collect the bike...

Must have found some money from somewhere...

Mind you, that "make offer" button is an invitation to get f'ing wound up!
There you are selling a £25k car and some buffoon offers you £12k! WTF do they think? The seller is suddenly going to have a f'ing epiphany!
Feck me mate you're right! You can have the car for £12k, what a fool I've been... Grrrrr....!!!

  9. i dont leave feedback on ebay if i ever use it. if nobody leaves any feedback then it will put the onus back on ebay to rethink their policy. feedback is totally unfair on ebay and one sided with no recourse when unfounded negs are left..ebay will only tell you to file a defamatory claim which is doomed to failure. one of my best negs was a dodgy nigerian bloke who purchased a mixing desk from me. it stated clearly in the auction that bidders must have 10 feedbacks or more and use paypal ONLY...
seconds before the listing ended this idiot won the item, ignored comms for 10 days then called me from a belgian mobile number from what sounded like a call centre (i could hear numerous african accents on phones in the background)..he said he wanted to view the item, then pay for it in person as he was travelling from Reading. i refused. Nothing about this guy seemed to add up. a week or two later i hadnt heard from him so i relisted the item. i then received a msg from Mr.Idiot requesting that i cancel the transaction. Anyway, i did and was instantly left with negative feedback which of course, ebay wouldnt do anything about.
lets face it, the company is crap and so many of the chancers on there are scammers ergo: caveat emptor, but dont expect an easy ride on any transaction. as we all know with ebay, it over until its over with every purchase/sale.
as i said earlier, i avoid it. been there for too long, with too many tales to tell..and it was even worse when me and my missus were together she was addicted to buying and selling clothes, and the bitchy women on there were a whole new depth of pettiness and lying.

  10. Agreed - read some of the feedback left/given to some of the dealers selling cosmetics....

  11. Found the email I sent to ebay after they bollocked me ( ps this was for a cycle saddle)
    Hi
    I'm pretty cross with this.
All I did was make some offers via the 'make an offer' system and then when I ran out offers I offered the seller another offer, all via ebay and at no point asked to buy outside of ebay.
I was amazed when the seller sent me a mail telling me I was insulting him so purely responded back to him in a tone he took with me
Here are the exchanges, after I ran out of offers:

    ME: Hi
can you do it for £38 posted?

HIM:Are you taking the **** ? No you know how much these are worth, so please do not insult me !
    Kind regards
    Paul

ME: Why be so insulting to me?
It's only £2 less than your buy now?
Are you telling me that when you buy on ebay you dont try to get the best deal for yourself?

HIM: I am only responding to your rude gesture ! you know how much this is worth, you know how much the other two Romins sold for and you know this is worth the same as the range topping sl team.
So offering less than the last auction value for the model down is insulting. Although i am one for a bargain too try your ploy with halfords or evans.
    good luck

ME: listen up you fool, you are full of assumptions.I had no idea what other saddles sold for.
Suggest ebay is not really for you if you take offfence at such a trivial matter
    Quite shocking really

HIM How about ...i get any more insulting contact from you and I report you and your behaviour to the system this is not the forum for you to have a pop at me I am trying to sell an item not be harrassed by someone who wants to buy things out of auctions at prices not listed, which if I am correct it against eBay policy and is to go reported. Now kindly stop your attention to me and try somewhere else.
    Kind regards
    Paul

I formally request this report is turned on its head and this member gets a severe warning about responding to potential buyers in such a fashion

Best regards from a 100% positive ebay member

  12. Well one good thing. And not a bad guess on my part. The wrongly sent parts were in fact suspension covers but not harley they were for a matchless.
So my clutch cover is on it's way and I've to post the parts back with the seller paying into my paypal the postage cost. :upyeah:

one of the other probs was the delivery of some swingarm spools for a ZXR1200 , they never arrived so I requested some more which the seller said he'd posted. Guess what they never arrived, and I've given em loads of time coz they were from china. I always give stuff from there 6 weeks so of course I gave the seller more time for the second set, then contacted him about a refund giving him more time, now I go to complain and see ebay's policy is 46 days ,which by now I've run over, so off course the seller has seen this and not responded even.
Lesson learned and I'll think twice about ordering from any company selling cheap stuff from far away countries.

  13. I had a great time the other month, i bought a set of alloy wheels and tyres for my car, the transaction went swimmingly, i drove to london collected the wheels, paid and all was good, we both left each other positive feedback, all good.

2 weeks later my account has a non payment against it, and is frozen WTF, but following the contact ebay bit an instant messanger thing came up, i said my bit, along the lines of we have left each other feedback and indicated the item collected/taken so WTF is going on with my account!!

Strangely enough it was all sorted there and then, but how does ebay know when something goes wrong unless someone tells them? and having spoken to the seller he couldent understand it either!!

A couple of days confusion and time spent sorting something out that did not need sorting:rolleyes:

  14. Forgot about the wheel I bought on eBay. Was obviously damaged and guess some place had gone round half the rim with a jigsaw to make sure was not used. When I pointed this out to the seller he accused me of doing the jigsaw thing. When I suggested I come to show him the damage personnaly he caved in with a refund and I skipped the wheel. Must try and find the pics

  15. Not had an issue with any buyer or seller. The vast majority of people are decent folks.

My trouble is with ebay and paypal. I had my paypal account hacked last year to the tune of £900; paypal were worse than useless, and very secretive, it was my bank that sorted it out in the end. So a year later I've got a new bank account, new paypal and ebay account, even a new computer, but can I make any kind of transaction on ebay..?

No. Cos the idiots at paypal keep trying to revive my old account, which then links to my ebay account automatically. Repeated phone calls fall on deaf - or stupid - ears, so I've given up. The twunts.

  16. had the check to suggest it was not the wheel sold to me
    [IMG]

  17. I have never had a problem with ebay ; However i do not use it to much i must admit.

If i can i tend to use Gumtree which is local based and most items can be found within a sort drive from the house.

However if it is a part tat is required i just tend to have a look and buy it, so far so good.

  18. I use Ebay quite a lot and have had no issues really. I use both private sellers and traders. The only issue I had was a set of tyres I bought that turned out to be 7 yrs old when they arrived. No way they were going on my bike!!

    Matt

  19. Poor rant - 2/10. Must do better

  20. Ok another whinge then,.I've just bought an Item and the postage charge is up there for me to see but when I go to check out ,it has disapeared ,Hence I cant pay and have to contact seller for an invoice.
He hasnt responded ,well he has -- To take out a case on me for non payment, so I got in touch with ebay whose fault it is because they dont class the channel islands as part of the UK,
They wanted me to contact the seller directly to get him to invoice me (phone call I assume) ,well sorry I dont want to talk to anyone personally , If I wanted to do that I'd phone a breakers.
So I told em I'd contacted the seller twice through messages and if they didnt respond with an invoice and then left me with a black mark (my feedback is 100%) I'd close my account.
Petty you might think but I always pay immediately and demand right and proper service from those I deal with.
