Ecu Labeling

  1. I had a look at the ECU on my newly acquired 2003 1000SS last night as I’m considering some mods and want to investigate the possibility of time on a Dyno or looking for a used DP Flashed one.

I was surprised to find some quite unprofessional looking labels stuck over the top of the original ones, so peeled them off to see what was underneath.

On Google I found a couple of other Ducati ECUs with the additional Labels, but nothing that really told me much.

Has anyone seen this style of over-labels before?

The bike came to me standard except some really awful Carbon cans, which I took off and replaced with the original cans, and the bike runs a bit better, so I don’t think the ECU has a modified map already.
The other option is that the ECU has been replaced with one from a different bike and has been reprogrammed to suit.

    Any thoughts?

    The additional labels read:
    1000SS DUCATI026
    &
    S1000PR3

    The originals read:
    IAW 59.A8
    IAW 59M.A8/HW010/S21-D027
    12V= 031 03
    3DHI2KX1D
    &
    61601.047.00
    999
    DUCATI016

  2. Perfectly normal labelling on the early bikes using the IAW59M ECU. They switched to white paper labels when the IAW5AM was introduced. DP ECUs came with a large red and white label stuck onto them until the IAW5AM was introduced.
