1200 Ecu Upgrade?

  1. Just a thought, reading another similarly named post brought it into my head. In brief...2011s, 50k miles, I have owned from 5k miles 2016. I do all my own maintenance/servicing, oil change every 5k belts/valves on spec every 15k. Runs like a bird, the more the miles the sweeter it runs. Here's the question....to my knowledge it has never been "plugged in", would it be worth while booking it into somewhere & checking for upgrades or go with my gut instinct & leave well enough alone...."if it ain't broke etc"
I would value opinions from some of you learned chaps in the forum however. D.

  2. If previous owners had the bike dealer serviced, it would have been routinely plugged in. You need to ask a dealer or authorised workshop how many updates have been rolled out in the last 6 years. You’d have thought not many for a first generation 1200 but I couldn’t rule any out. If you are looking for peace of mind, pay a dealer to do an inspection, maybe 2 hours labour, £200. If you are not bothered, just ride it. Andy

  3. You obviously know the bike inside out after 6 years and 45k and it runs sweet, I'd go with your gut instinct.

  4. As the others said, if you're happy, then don't touch it.

If you're curious, ask the dealer what updates have come out in 6 years that are worth the time.
