1200 Electrical Accessory Socket - Power Feed

  1. I'm planning a bit of a trip, so decided to see if I can add a feed for charging my phone, satnav etc. A few folks may have noticed the electrical socket on the left hand side behind the headstock. It has a blanking plug inserted. This provides a switched 12v supply, and the mating plug is one of these:

Sumitomo - 2 Way Female HM Connector - Japanese Electrical Plug - Honda KTM | eBay

I'll be attaching it to one of these:

    Dual Double 2 USB DC-DC Car Converter Module 12V To 5V 3A 15W Power Adapter | eBay

What I may do is position it so that the USB leads are tucked under the rubber flap by the ignition switch. So whenever I require a lead I can just pull one out, and away I go.

Further to that, I am looking to add a small fusebox under the seat, with maybe 3 or 4 positions that I can attach other accessories - I might add a cigarette socket. I'll post details as that happens.

  2. Good one Nik - very useful. Might have to do the same on mine

  3. Looks ideal, thanks Ian. I guess the only thing is you may not be able to use it in the rain?

  4. Not really planning to at this stage - fair weather rider ha ha

I think it will get a certain amount of protection being out of the way and didn't want it attaching to handlebars. This way, it's not moving around as your steer - just leave a few cm's of cable to take up the slack
