Elloooo everyone. I live near York, been here for nearly 14 years now, originally from North Herts. Currently have 3 bikes, two I built, one I bought last year because I was fed up fixing the others.. and ironically it's now the one that's giving me grief. So during a long Google sess to diagnose the problem(s), I found your helpful posts and thought I'd join up. I thought bandits gave me grief but the prospect of the steep learning curve I'm about to face with my S4, well, the air will be blue. Forum posts were helpful, so going to dive in once I've posted this. I bought my S4 last April, I've always wanted a Monster but couldn't afford one, so got a Bandit for my first big bike. The chap had described the S4 as Marmite because of the tank, I happen to love Marmite by the spoonful, so have no plans to change it. It says 'Ducati' and 'Monster' in the lines in case you're wondering. The inline 4s are a lot of filthy fun but I don't think I've ever shouted 'WOOOOHOOOO' when hooning before I got this bike. The power delivery is so different to what I'm used to but damn, that's addictive. Fantastic handling and the way it growls.. oooo cold shower! Well it did, now the engine is full of fuel and I've got to work out why. Ain't having bikes fun! Manual is pants too because it doesn't cover the S4 and the 916 is the sports bike.. so that's only relevant for the engine bit (right?). Righto, best get in the workshop and start, if I get stuck, I'll start a thread, if you know of one that helps, please point me in the direction (I know how peeps hate it when people don't search first). Cheers! Noz aka Moo
Engine (sump i'm assuming?) full of fuel on an injected bike is a rare one, because weeping fuel injectors usually manifest themselves by running rich, running rough and hard to start and lastly, bike just will not run if severe, engine can even lock hydraulically if you leave fuel pump running for a while before trying to start if above is happening. A look at your spark plugs should help pinpoint which cylinder, can't think of any other obvious cause than this and hopefully you've found it before engine has been damaged.
