Wife is off to japan for a kmth with scouts in June...have to check the dates How do you guys get there? Ferry to santader or calais and two day ride? I do love a bend...
Still in discussions about travel arrangements, possibilities are, ride there, ride to Paris and jump on the motorail to Toulouse or a ferry to one of the ports but probably not Santander or Bilbao.

Its max 700 miles from caen, not sure if that can be off toll roads, two days hard riding on reasonable fast roads, think its another 100 or so from calais? Looks like a week to me....2 days there...4 days at venue..1 mega day bac on tolls/fastest route?
You need a 2-3 days there and back as a minimum, especially if you want to ride nicer roads. We took 2 nights (3 days) to get there and back from the Dolomites last year and they were 2 long days and 1 short. We left on Tuesday, got to the Hotel on Thursday evening, left on Sunday morning and got home on Tuesday. My days of running 700-800 miles in a day are finished. There was an article about the trains in BIKE mag this month. If you use the French train the bike goes without you and you follow on a passenger train. Would cost a bit more but would save the tyres squaring off and miles of motorway
Bugger bugger bugger bugger bugger ! Same weekend as my bike clubs trip to vianden, and I am in Italy the week before. Hope you all have fun guys, pyrenees are great I've done caen to nogaro on back roads in a day ( off ferry 7:30, arrived there 6::30pm) so it's certainly possible. And back to calais on auto routes in a day (left there 9am, back home in Surrey at 9pm totally knackered though)
