Is there anywhere that can supply the std 8mm valve shim set that EMS other than from manufacturer. The postage cost from the USA to Australia because of covid is limited, so the cost is very high so I was wondering if I can buy the complete kit from anybody else? There are places that sell individual shims but it would suit me better to have a whole kit. Any advice greatly received.
I've had the kit for quite a while, and I highly recommend it. I've got a few 8mm valve engines to service so it paid for itself quickly. The cost of individual shims soon mounts up, but its more the convenience as I do most work myself. I had to pay the tax and postage from US to UK, which was a bit of a sting. If you could go halves with someone else?
I bit the bullet and bought a kit direct from EMS, hopefully it won't take too long to get here. Now I should be able to service stuff as needed.
EMS was sold to LT Snyder @ Desmo Times in Florida, I'm 99% sure that he's a one man band. LT is a Military reservist and I think he's away on duty at the moment? So you might have to wait awhile for your kit. Steve R
It's all a bit odd , don't you think ? That guy over there is doing it on his own , but nobody in Europe appears to be doing the same . There was a shim exchange thing happening on this forum , but you may have to do a bit of digging to find it , and anyway " the best of all possible worlds " is to have the selection box right in front of you .
