Emulators With Ss Forks?

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by DanSS600, Apr 28, 2020.

  1. Has anyone fitted fork emulators for normal road use?

  2. I have a set of Andreani internals fitted to a set of 900ss forks. The difference in compliance with the road is a 'night and day' improvement. The rebound and compression damping are taken care of by each leg top cap. The adjusters at the base of the forks legs become redundant. Both leg retain spring pre-load adjust-ability.

  3. That’s interesting. What springs were / are you using? Single, dual or rising rate?

  4. I believe that the springs may have a rising rate to them. I do know that they were spec'd to suit my weight and were installed as a complete package with the cartridges by Brook Suspension. I think the fork oil might be a lighter grade than stock too.

  5. I’m not sure which forks were fitted to the 600ss but if they are Marzocchi’s throw them away and get a set of Showas from the 900ss, they are good forks, that’s what I did on my M900 (I now refit they Marzocchi’s for winter use to preserve the Showas).

Edit; just checked, you should have Marzocchi’s non adjustable on your bike if nobody has previously changed them, so keep an eye out on eBay for a pair of 900ss forks, they are a straight swap and fully adjustable, much better than messing around with emulators etc, the pair I got for my M900 cost £200 and are in brilliant condition, no scratches etc.

  6. Yes, non adjustable forks on mine. Before I bin them I just wanted to find out if anybody had looked at using emulators but the cost makes it look pointless if Showa costs £200

  7. I doubt emulators would work as well as the 900ss 3 way adjustables as well Dan, the difference over the ones you’ve got now is night and day, really plush and a good range of adjustment, a few on here have made the swap and all were pleased with the results, the only problem is you’ll have to wait for a good set to come up!.
