I have seen the DRE Enduro Academy offer some great training in Italy, but is there somewhere in the UK like the academy where I can learn all the technical skills and pick up plenty of tips for off-road riding?
There are lots of schools doing training of various levels. Just depends on how much you want to spend, how far you want to travel, your own experience and what you want to get out of it
It also depends what you class as ‘off road’, do you mean Multistrada or GS trundling over gravel roads or 300cc 2T ripping your arms off over jumps and ripping through wooded single track?
Mate has just been to a school run by Mick Extance. Start on smaller bikes to give you tips and easier to pick up when it goes wrong then also aims some training at bigger ADV bikes as well I learned by trial and error on long stretches of Norwegian gravel roads and rocky trails on the Multi but would like to be a lot better at it should i venture back on terrain like that again
I did the KTM course with Any Smith a few years ago but this was more of an off road trials type riding school. BMW course in Wales maybe?
I thought one of the past front page articles was about Ducati launching a uk based training. Or prehaps was that part of a bike-festival event?!? Plenty of off-road courses in wales that provide the bike you will go on.
a few years ago now, some of us did the Hafren Enduro in Wales, 37 mile laps in and around Sweet Lamb, we were all on pukka enduro bikes, a WR450 in my case and one of the over riding memories of the day was me being flat out through a whoops section (look at Meee I am a riding GOD)....when Si Pavey came past me like I was stood still...on a BMW HP2 Enduro... a truely humbling experience....
upsetting doesnt cover it really.....it wouldnt have been soooo bad if hed been on a proper dirt bike instead of a GS with long legs !! No other enduro's but plenty of trail riding around Llangollen (excuse the spelling) most of my enduros have been here in yorks, Driffield and the like, I decided I prefered trail riding it's much more relaxing
Got to be honest, trail riding is easier on the body than enduros but not half as much fun, especially if you survive and finish. Mrs Pavey ain’t to bad on a dirt bike either
