1200 Enduro Enduro Pro - First 500 Miles

  1. Thought I would share a little bit of what the new Enduro Pro has been like over the last few weeks of ownership as I do have a couple of niggles. Overall I am impressed with the quality of the bike. The TFT screen and navigation through the different menus is good and an improvement on the BMW GS Adv., especially like the visibility of the speedo, although BMW are now introducing a TFT screen on the new bikes and that may well be comparable (they are obviously playing catch up!). I have not changed any of the default settings but I have sampled them all. The bike has a great load of oomph, so can't wait to 'give it the beans' once the first service has been done.

I have to say that the seat is a horror show! Riding position isn't too bad, but after around a hundred miles it feels very uncomfortable to me, and definitely not all day friendly. There is a lot of crap kicked up from the back on wet roads, no biggie, but I could have done with my rucksack being hosed down after my last run out.

Worryingly I have had about a dozen false neutrals from fifth gear, mostly going up to sixth but a couple coming down also. This may well get sorted on the first service (I'm hoping) as it's not something I have ever experienced on any previous bike I've had, and I've had a few.

Might sound a bit negative overall but I'm still getting used to the machine, and so far it has to be said that I am enjoying the Ducati experience.

    J.R.

  2. TFT on the GS already out, (couple of months nr)vnot seen it but suppose to be pretty good.
Seats not as comfortable as pre DVT, it is a trade off for seat height, many have changed seats though and improved comfort.
Get a top box :p that will keep your ruck sack clean
False Neutrals are not un common, it gets better with age, but I found adjusting the Lever position can help. Not sure what oil they have for the first 500 miles now days but that might not be helping if it is different to standard.

  3. Some comfort to know about the false neutrals, thanks :upyeah:But top box.....I'd rather have a mucky rucksack :grinning:

As for the seat, well the bike has the diarrhoea - sorry, I mean 'Sand' colour, so swapping the seat might not be so simple. I will see how I go, and I suppose if it becomes too much of an issue I might be able to get it reworked.

  4. I used to have that opinion of top boxes, but they are just so usual I use one, but never admit to it, or look at it, though it is an Givi Alli box. (hmm crap I do put on a small givi too :)
If you are not short in the leg there are a few combinations for the seat settings.

  5. Thanks ProFF, I was tongue in cheek over the top boxes, I did end up with an SW Motech one on the GSA as it allowed for carrying a bit of kit and filtering, but I'm not going to relent with the Ducati. I did however go for the ally panniers as I had them on the GSA, but these ones are something else - they are mahooooosive!!

  6. Images please!

  7. Said machine equipped with aluminium wardrobes :D IMAG1102.jpg

  9. ........and Tesco :p

  10. What's an Enduro 'pro'?

Just done another 200 miles on my regular Enduro today and the gearbox is pretty slick (plus my seat is comfortable enough), no false neutrals, although I did try my pals KTM 1290 AdvS with quick shifter and well, what an engine/box/brakes and chassis set up! Some areas fall short of the Duke, but I came away mightily impressed.

  12. It's the new (some unique bits) kitted out model enduro before the 1260version arrives & also V4-varient in the years too come.

  13. Ah, cheers. I don't bother perusing manufacturers sites once I purchase, for this very reason. Always, within 2 months of collection, they release something bigger/better!

Does this 'pro' come with a leaky, front brake master cylinder reservoir, or is that unique to the Joe Soap versions? :p

  14. I got the ducati-bling metal caps fitted which have never leaked :p

@J.R. 9/11 few more photos wouldn't go a miss'....just noticed the forks are black & I'm liking the seat two-tone design.

  15. I guess the pro is a slightly blinged up Enduro? I’ve done about 10k on my standard Enduro, not really experienced many (if any) false neutrals. The seat is uncomfortable compared with my old ktm 1190 (plus comfort seat) or even my old Suzuki vstrom 650. I did buy the Ducati comfort seat which is slightly better but still not a patch on the KTM. That said I’ve endured a few 300 mile plus days with my arse largely intact. I’ve kinda got used to it now. Yes it does kick up some mud from the rear... and a top box does help.. But a bit of mud will match your kit to the paintwork surely ... ;-)

One thing to watch mine drunk a lot of oil in the first 2000 Miles... so check
    Before every journey
