So following on from my incident on Wednesday I've been advised I shouldn't ride with the steel rods in my leg, as a further impact could be a disaster. Timescale for rod removal? 1 - 2 years... oh well, looks like I've got plenty of time to do the CBR, and my housemate will get the use of the Ducati for a year... oh well, these things are sent to try us......
Phil, like your pragmatism. Winter is here, so there goes 6 months of shoite riding avoided for you, and 6 months closer to getting back on the duc. I am sure with your general good physical condition, lack of excess weight to bear on the injury, you should be getting better on the sunnier side of the doctor's projections. so, what is the full extent of your injuries, if you don't mind me asking? Oh, and never mind the bikes, how long before you can get back to your beloved onesie? Gws young fella.
Oh dear... this is going to hurt... feel for ya... but just get the grid between your teeth... you'll get there eventually.. good things come to those who wait... gws
I rode with one tibia nail in one leg and a meccano type plate on the front of the other (two leg break) I asked for the nail to be removed, which he did but still have the plate. I ride on the road and track. Yes it is a worry, however, you could smash you back or head if you fall off, we don't seem to let that stop us riding. Get on your bike and enjoy!
the time will be gone before you know it. Your long term health is of the most importance. Ride when your ready, it will be worth it  In the meantime, get polishing
Broken left thigh bone in two places and broken hip socket. The two steel rods are unequal length, with one about a foot long, and one about 6 inches. It's all been nailed back together, taking 3.5 hours in surgery and apparently requiring a bit of blood... Will be back in the onesie very soon....
you sound very chipper considering that is propper nasty what you've done but i guess could have been a lot worse get well soon!
I feel your pain not the leg but not riding for so long. It's a year and half since i rode I'm hoping I'm fit enough come the spring I'm chomping at the bit to get back out there. Take it easy and repair well you never know you may get out sooner
That's the plan. As tempting as it us it would be silly to ride with the rod in - if anything did happen there would be a very real chance of losing the leg as the bent pin would be near impossible to remove.
It does give my mate Ian a chance to get an indoctrination into the world of Ducati, as he will be excersising it while I'm off 2 wheels.
Not knowing the detail, or the thread you refer to...if it doenst kill you, lifes too short, ignore it and enjoy life  if it hurts like hell take drugs and do it anyway life's too short to stop doing what you can if a all able to  message is life's too short to hang about
