If, as they say, the new Monster 1200 has the same engine as the Mutley; can you swap over the engine cases as the Monster 1200 ones were finished in a different paint/texture which looked tougher than the crap mine are painted with. At least that's what it looked like at the NEC!
Can do, but why should I when the cases should last longer than a few months!!!!. Currently on second set replaced under warranty and now left hand one (3 months old) is lifting it's paint. Maybe someone at the factory thought it might be a good idea to improve the finish?!!
they all do that!! It's not just a multi thing. JHP, Snells, MotoRapido - any of those guys should be able to get the issue resolved without going to new cases.
Oh you can bet your life on it that the new monster ones will be exactly the same, my mates ktm smt is no different. you can splash out on brand new cases at great expense and then in a few months have two sets that'll need painting. just get the original ones redone and that'll be the last time
Just curious as to other peoples experiences with the apparently poor paint finish on engine cases, what cases from other Ducatis fit if any?, anyone done DIY repairs?, advice on removal/refitting cases etc?
