Out for a ride this afternoon in unseasonably mild weather. Engine suddenly cut out when deaccelerating to a L turn in third gear. First time thought might have been my fault- though have never never been able to stall a Multi over many years of ownership. When it occurred a second time was a bit more bothered. Tea at Grafham and run home no problems. Any thoughts.
The side stand cut-out switch is always a candidate for this sort of fault. Or indeed the kill switch itself gave that sort of trouble in the early 1200s. Was there any associated electrical failure?
Strip and clean the sidestand area and the electrical connections, a little bit of contact cleaner will not hurt and then make sure everything is tightened up would be my first actions. if It persist's after that then as Conman mentions, test the switch next
Was my first thought the side stand switch. After coming to a stop the bike started immediately on the button each time-that seems a bit strange and suggests a very temporary problem. Reminded me of my 2010 Multi that for a while would cut out for no reason. Eventually cured itself- perhaps after recalls. Just wondered if any one else has had the same on a new 1260.
Happened 2 or 3 times to me in the first 1,000 miles but never since then. I put it down to my getting used to the QS and not having to use the clutch as it only happened when I used the clutch to change down and maybe the QS and the Clutch action confused the electronics. How many miles on yours? Could be bedding in issue if very low mileage?
Bout 1600 miles only. Lots of things have just sorted now but this took me by surprise yesterday. Hopefully just a two off.
