Hi all I have had my bike for 5 days a 2016 1299. When accelerating hard and going through the gears I have had the bike cut almost like it hits a hard limiter briefly. Originally all of the rider aids were pretty much maxed out. Yesterday I had the DTC and DWC set at 4/5 Accelerating hard I did get a slight wiggle from the rear then boom cuts it's borderline dangerous l, The other 2 times before there wasn't any known I got the bike from a garage and it's under warranty so worst case it goes back and they have a look just asking if anyone has experienced anything similar.
Is the quick shifter knackered, they aren't very good, I've had 2 replaced, one on a 1299, other my current PP, if the spring inside is broken it can let it move and create the contact as though you are wanting to change gear, and cut power. Disconnect it, or turn it off and try it again. It's an easy thing to try before getting too in depth
I agree, prob quickshifter. I use HM SABS QS on mine. Comes in Lite and Pro versions. Lite is fine. Ive read similar stories about the QS elsewhere and I pre-emptively changed mine. Its a very basic switch. Its not even a strain gauge, its as basic as a QS can get.
I believe mine has a translogic quickshifter on it? I presume this is aftermarket. Will have a look thursday Friday. Ducati have got back to me and should be calling me soon.. Thanks for the replies. Of course it may be that the rsv4 as it had a very shirt throw compared to the panigale. But doubt it. Hopefully it's sorted before the winter properly kicks in and she gets put away. Cheers
Could be the quick shifter sticking, but that would eventually throw an error and disable it. Try the DTC on a low setting. 4/5 will be quite intrusive, almost to the point it starts anticipating a loss of traction. 2 or 3 would be my choice..
be sure you aren't actually hitting the rev limiter! a friend thought his bike was seizing up as he was bumping into the limiter after being used to revving a inline 4
Had this on a ZX10, turned out to be the side stand switch operating itself on hard acceleration. Long shot I suppose.
This isn't a bad shout. Had it happen today after turning all aids down. From 3 to 4 cuts then goes again like someone is turning the ignition on and off. It could be the battery to as it feels like there's nothing there then back again immediately isn't half unnerving whilst climbing into 3 digits speeds on private roads
Also make sure your foot isnt 'resting' on the lever, either above or below. I know its a daft suggestion, but Ive done this myself.
I’ve also had a this on a zx10 and almost completely stripped the bike before realising what the problem was. The foot resting thing I’ve had with my BMW quick shifter and I didn’t even realise I was doing it, literally just lightly making contact and it threw a wobbler so both worth looking at I reckon.
mine did something similar but at low rpms. It would cut off. Turns out both the map and throttle position sensors had gone bust. Might be a long shot but get the sensors checked.
Has it been laid up a while with old petrol in the tank? Friend had an issue years ago where it bad fuel caused a fuel pressure issue and it needed a new fuel pump as a result
I had something very similar happen on my V4r two days ago. About to give it the beans and it cut out. The orange engine light came on and it was ok afterwards. Got it home and read the error code P061F. Sadly I didn’t take a screenshot of what it said it meant on my OBDStar but I seem to remember it was something to do with a throttle position calibration, possibly? Nonetheless, I have since removed the map from the bike and opted for my faithful UpMap map for the moment until the bike goes back to the tuners to iron out some issues with the custom map.
