Good evening All and Happy Christmas. I am in need of some advice please. I have an 899 Panigale 2013, I had the bike serviced in October and has only done 50 miles since. I had the bike out on the drive today to have a tidy up in the garage. I started the bike up as I was going to go out for a little ride as the weather was nice and the engine symbol was on and an exclamation mark up on the screen. I turned the bike off and left it and then started it again and it had gone. I didnt end up taking the bike out as it has worried me. Does anyone have any idea what it could be. Many thanks in advance.
Did you have it trickle charging? If not battery might have had a little freak out. If it had gone out mate best thing to do would have been swing your leg over and ride it.
https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/huge-shout-out-to-snells.73976/ Snells at the time said the failures / glitches often happen when temp / pressure changes in the environment, you'll need it plugging in. Good luck.
Thanks Gents. I do trickle charge it but I put the charger on for a few hours then turn it off. I dont ever leave the charger on for days on end. I plug it in once a week for a few hours, could this be causing the problem.
Highly unlikely, I do the same and advised Snells of the fact and they said it would not be a contributory factor, sounds like you need to get it plugged in to a diagnostic tool. Shame these aren't like some of the older bikes where you could get the code up on the dashboard.
Take it for a short ride, if it does it again try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes, mine showed an engine warning light after being left out overnight in torrential rain while on a Scotland trip this year, 5 mins with the lead off sorted it
Good afternoon All, Happy New Year. I started this post over the xmas period and haven't started the bike since. I finally got home early today and thought I would give the bike a tick over. Started the bike and once again the exclamation mark sign is up on the dash. Bike runs and ticks over. I haven't yet disconnected the battery and yes it has occasionally been on an Optimate for 10 hours. Can anyone please point me in the right direction to try and sort it... thanks in advance.
You’ll only get to the bottom of it after reading the ecu out and finding what’s lighting the warning up. There are so many error codes on these thing nowadays that the warning is just that, telling you something is amiss. If it’s running ok, and not lighting permanently then it’s not going to be too drastic
Rossco You're showing as Essex and to be honest it sounds as though it's professional time even it's just for an hour to run it on the fault finder to get you to the information you need. Franchised dealer you have Hyside at Romford who have a good rep http://ducati.hysidemotorcycles.co.uk/ OR A very very good independent just outside Colchester, Glen at Moto V http://www.moto-v.co.uk/
Thank you Noobie, I do use the boys at Hyside but I was going to see if I could do anything, plus I am concerned riding it, I haven't a clue if it could make the situation any worse but thanks for your advice.
Good afternoon All, just wanted to give an update to my little issue. Once again another fine job by the guys at Hyside. I contacted Scott and Pete after being advised by you fine people to have the bike ECU read. Pete kindly offered to collect the bike the same day and within 2 hours the 899 was read and sorted. He called me back to let me know the problem and that he had sorted and he would be able to return it at my convenience. Unfortunately I wasnt able to been home to have it back as I have been working away, the boys kindly looked after it for me. I would like to say a big thank you to Hyside and once again what a brilliant service I have recieved.
I believe an Air Fuel Map Sensor, I may have that wrong. It was definitely a sensor that had dropped its signal.
