Why is there a 12 BHP more claimed for the Diavel against the Multistrada? I can see it revs higher 162BHP @ 9500RPM where the Mutley is just 150BHP @ 9250RPM. I understand that the engines and induction systems are identical, so why is the peak power 8% more? Do they just let you rev it higher? I could keep guessing, but does anyone here actually know? I wish the Mutley had the dash/display of the Diavel, but that's about it. I love mine, but I'm sure glad they didnt make a yellow & black one, it would look like an angry hornet (insect, not the bike).
I rode a demo Diavel round London briefly - before it was nicked and whatever the reasons for the HP increase it certainly feels more powerful at lower revs than the Multi. The power delivery made it a lot of fun - not a better bike, just has more grunt - but not as easy to live with and certainly much less versatile. Ideally I'd have both!
The upright adventure style of the Multi makes the airbox smaller and induction more restricted. The Diavel also has a heavier crank so is smoother.
Not sure this is true. My understanding is that both motors are identical in every respect, hence my question from those that "KNOW" the answer...I made a few guesses myself. I've opened the air box up on the left (near side) so it now has twice in the induction capability as a standard bike, albeit I may have lost any forced induction at speed (if there ever was any). Here are my guesses; More free flowing exhaust. Different ECU MAP May be a better induction system. To be honest if the engines are identical that's all it could be.....right?
Same engine, completely different exhaust........ Much nicer exhaust in my opinion, sounds better as standard and is far easier and cheaper to add an aftermarket one to. (I put a Remus can on mine).
A poster on ducatims.com had his bike dynoed before and after fitting a full Termi system and claimed a 12 bhp increase which would bring it in line with the Diavel.
At the back wheel my 2010 mutley produced 132-4 before it was worked on then 150bhp afterwards. Opened up air box and decay plus no baffle Leo vince. Just shows what a proper map can do. .
How much extra did your insurance company charge on account of the performance boosting modifications? Or did you forget to mention them?
I don't know how much more as they are declared at the start of the quote process. After market luggage etc just adds a percentage of the total value .a 28 day ban for speeding adds about £40, pillion use about £30 and commercial use about £60 for 5000 London miles.
