1200 Engine Problem

  1. Hi
I recently got a Multistrada 1200. On the first run around, I was coming home and the Amber came on for Error Engine. A couple days later it was gone. Then yesterday the same thing happen. Any idea.

  2. The ecu will have stored a fault code. You need to talk to your nearest Ducati dealer or someone who has the relevant aftermarket software. Once identified, you’ll need to decide how to resolve the problem. Your local Ducati dealer’s fitted parts comes with a 2 year warranty. Other solutions may not. Andy

  3. Post on here about loose battery terminals throwing up random errors.

  4. Check your flappy valve thing.

  5. I had an issue with an intermittent engine warning light, a number of visits to the supplying dealer in North Wales later the problem still existed despite the software being updated each time. They claimed there was no log of fault codes, on occasion the bike reverted to limp home mode but restarting usually reset that.
Eventually I decided to take my bike elsewhere, I spoke with Mark the Service Manager at Ducati Manchester who thought it was likely the exhaust valve. However when they inspected the bike ( and the fault codes) it turned out to be a faulty throttle position sensor which was replaced under warranty.
So I would suggest trying to spray the sensor with electroclean/contact cleaner first to see if it clears the problem, I believe it is in the hand grip.
There’s a good chance it isn’t the same issue but good luck with the repair.
