Hi, I have a 2013 1199 that has done 500 miles. I went for a spin today and got the engine warning light. Stopped bike, told mate I was stuffed, turned on ignition again and the message was gone - all ok? Same happened later. Might this be a running in issue? Engine seems to be running fine. Going to head down to Motorapido tomorrow (steadily) to make sure but wondered if you guys had any thoughts? Cheers.
Do you allow the engine to warm up before riding off? Have you kept in below 6k for the running in period? (624miles) Sounds like it is requesting you get it serviced.
Yeah, think she was kept in someones lounge for a few years! I'll take her into Motorapido tomorrow and get some advice. Cheers.
Yes let her warm up before running. Erm... may have gone over 6k. Wasn't advised of any running in period from dealer when I bought. Not done many miles though. Thanks
Fault codes at Moto Rapido is the place to start. Very steady ride to the dealer should be fine but if it coughs, stutters, splutters etc. Stop the engine and get it towed there. My ass would be tighter than a snare drum on that ride to the dealer with my eyes so glued to the dash I'd probably crash anyway.
Running in service is due at 600 miles mate, and they're supposed to be serviced yearly regardless... What stamps have you got in the book?
Loose battery connection? I had a similar thing on my first 1199 during running in at the battery terminal bolt had vibrated off.
