  1. got a six week trip to spain planned for November . what European breakdown cover would u guys recommend. cheers phil .

  2. Check your insurance doesnt include it.

  3. RAC wanted £75 to add it for one month to my breakdown cover.

I called my insurance broker and he gave me a years' cover for £25. :)

  4. Be wary of conditions within a policy that state a maximum duration for any one trip. Make sure you are covered for a six continuous six week period.

  5. Check your Building and Contents insurance cover on your home, as most have a condition within the policy on the number of days the property can be left unoccupied.

  6. Regarding European breakdown insurance, I took out a policy with Ducati Insurance as part of renewal of the bike insurance. Cost £69 for the year (Violet level of cover) and it's through a company called Call Assist Ltd. Never had to use it so have no idea how good it is. I also have a a motorcycle specific Holiday/Medical insurance policy with HolidaySafe. The only time I tried to use it was when the AutoSlaap sleeper train service I'd booked went bankrupt - it didn't payout as End Supplier Failure is not covered in the standard policy, there is now an extra cost extension to cover this is required. I have an annual multiple trip policy for Europe (including Spain) for me and my wife. It should cover us for all our holidays in Europe (either together or if we travel on our own). It also includes a level of cover for track days as standard.

  7. I did a 'ad-hoc' single trip cover for my trip to Spain, with the RAC recently. Not the cheapest, but it gave me peace of mind....

  8. I sometimes think that peace of mind is all you get from insurance, until you come to claim that is.
