Any of you guys fitted a evo tech upper rad gaurd, are they simple to fitt, any pictures and info will be much appreciated.
Just put one on the Panigale, you do not even need to remove fairings for upper or lower guard. Very easy to fit, takes about 4 mins Davy
Fitted both of mine on the 1098 over the weekend. You don't need to remove the battery covers the instructions say, but be careful when slipping the guard on over the spigot on the right side of the bike. I scratched the frame when doing mine Its also a bit of a squeeze with the lower mounting bolts and took some encouragement. The lower one is piece of piss easy. Three bolts, three minutes max I have to say they do look pretty good. Im at work at the moment, but will upload some photos here later. Havent road tested it, so cant say if the bike runs hotter yet. I guess I'll only really notice during the summer....all two weeks of it
I got the dealer to fit them both before I collected my 1198. Word of warning, my radiator had failed as they do! sorted under warranty, the second time it failed was apparently due to the guard catching the front tyre under hard braking and as the guard is several mm towards the tyre it caused the radiator to fail so I had it removed when another radiator was fitted! Might not be an issue on all and indeed 1098's but be aware. Radiators are not cheap.
This is what they look like after 13k on a SF - only fitted lower one, top radiator is still clean . Think I might take it off and paint it later :frown:
Is that paint wear caused by gravel etc being thrown up by the front wheel, or by contact with the front wheel under braking, as dukeman358 mentioned?
I was about to order one of these for my 848 but after reading this not sure now anyone else has this happen to ?
Mines been on 848sf for 12k - lower one only . Been in Italian heat and no probs apart from going silver where stones have hit
