have exhaust heat shield missing off my 999. thinking of getting one from conquest. anyone knows if their CF matches DP one well? also, ive ordered mounting screws and spacers/washers from a dealer. but i dont have anything to screw them in to? dealers spares diagram doesn't show that anything else needed to mount heatshield, but all i have is the mounting holes in the exhaust , nothing with the thread. any ideas?
You'll need a pair of stainless clips that slide into place on the exhaust mounts and provide a thread. I would expect them to be on a parts diagram but it may not be obvious what they are. They are square shaped and roughly 1cm by 1cm by 4mm thick
just downloaded spare part cat and on the page 58 ( the exhaust page) there is no mention of any clips. i am confused
Looks like it could be 850.4.064.1A The diagram says there are 4 but only shows one at the bottom of the pipe, where it holds on a heat protector for the fairing. It's described as a 'Nut with clip'
yea, i thought so myself, but... screw 31 and screw 24 must be different, so clips must be different as well?
Not necessarily. It shows there are are four clips with the same number but only two are at the bottom. The other two must be the leg heat-shield ones. If there is a difference in the screws it's likely to be length or cap style. The ones on my bike are mushroom headed.
ok, thanks for the tip. got the clips and they work just fine. now... what carbon heat shield will be the best match for the rest of carbon on my 999r? conquest? any feedback from anyone who tried?
