1000 Exhaust Holder.......

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Tommyg, Dec 21, 2020.

  1. Afternoon all,
Whilst having a sniff round the finer details of my 1000DS, I saw that the exhaust has got this rather dodgy looking sort of holder.........not much holding it but there appears to be a cut out...is this normal? Exhaust.jpg

  2. Looks like you have a bolt missing.

  3. It looks like that and it may be correct, but there is a small bit of metal ground out to make it sit there..........is yours the same Siddo?

  4. Usually there is anti vibration bobbin looks like a grommet with a washer on either side and the bolt goes through and into the engine

  5. No, I have the 1200. Something looks to be missing though and I think Kato could be right.
However, the hole behind the pipe looks to be split.

  8. only just seen this.. I suspect someone has decided to remove centrestand and couldn't be bothered to obtain plate and washers/fixings/mount. If this is for a 2003 1000DS then the hole in the crankcase you see is not the location to mount the exhaust to, plus you'd need a very long bolt anyway. The correct (sidestand only) plate has a half-punched depression in it, so making a platform on reverse side, which locates in the crankcase hole in your pic, as below.
