Exhaust Joint Sealing

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Edward Hitler, May 29, 2014.

  1. Hi All

Need to seal the joint on my Hyper EVO Termi system, the joint between the silencer and down pipe.

    Any recomended products.

Also need some sticky back heat reflecting material for the carbon heat shield as the stuff Ducati put on is falling off.

    Cheers

  2. I use clear bathroom silicone sealant. Works a treat, stays flexible, and withstands the heat.

  3. up until last week when i seen that on a car exhaust i would of said that was bull. but it worked and separated nicely.

  4. I once used Gun Gum on my 916 exhaust, sealed it fine but it was a real pig to get the exhausts apart afterwards. Silicone should work and there are some silicones that are marketed specifically for high temperature applications like glass oven doors etc.

But mostly, sprung exhaust joints (if clean and pipes straight) will seal themselves once hot.
