1200 DVT Exhaust Pipe Weld Fail

  1. Greetings from India,

Coming back from a morning ride last week I noticed the exhaust end can getting scratched up by the pillion foot peg, closer inspection revealed that the welding holding the pipe exiting the cat box and on to which the end can is boled had come clean off
Causing lateral movement in the end can which was then touching the foot peg
It's a month old bike with 3500km in it.
Has this happened to anyone else? IMG_20160123_133706_HDR.jpg IMG_20160123_133706_HDR.jpg

  2. there has been cases of exhaust welding not being perfect or the exhaust valve, but only after one or two years use and usually is affected by corrosion.

your case seems to be a manufacturing issue, unless of course there has been an impact or heavy damaging vibration/action beyond the parameters that weld was designed for.

report it and ask Ducati for a replacement under warranty ?

  3. Decat the thing and release the horses.

  4. Hi,
    Yes reported to Ducati,
There has been no impact, the bike was viby initially for the first 2000km but settled down since
May be I can get Ducati to de cat it:wink:
