1260 Exhaust Valve Woes...

  1. So on my return from a tour round the Scottish Highlands last monday ( 7th Sept) the dreaded engine warning light came on !

Spoke to my supplying dealer who were not overly helpful suggesting i call Ducati Assist which i did to descover that the AA will take the bike to the nearest dealer. I tried everything i could to get it to the supplying dealer ( a difference of about 12 miles) but nope it ends up where it does.

On friday ( 11th) about 3 ish that dealer finally got round to plugging it in to a computer to see what the problem is

Its the exhaust valve but exactly what within the exhaust valve system they dont know without further examination.

They cannot fit the bike in to look or fix until the end of October and i an have it back until then ! saying its ok to use in the meantime !

I have just had to cancel my trip to Wales that i should be starting today I cant get my bike back today as they are closed on Mondays

No loan bike and very little in the way of customer care at all

    I am very pissed off

Bike is a 10 month old 1260 Pikes peak bought new and with 3500 miles on it

  2. Why not invest in a DucEE servo eliminator and see if that shuts-off the CE light. It's not expensive.
If it doesn’t fix the issue you can always re-sell the DucEE as there's a buying market for those.

  3. I was considering going down the full termi route but i am getting so pissed off with Ducati aftersales service i may go back to KTM instead

  4. You should make sure Ducati (including the dealers) know that, and that you're here talking to other Ducati owners about your experience.

  5. I don't have all the details but it sounds like the problem is the Dealer not Ducati although Ducati should know about it.

  6. There seems to be a bit of variation in what seems to be acceptable after sales among the authorised Ducati dealers. The best are just wonderful, others seem to have different ideas. Where about are you situated?

  7. That’s a bummer , hope you get it sorted soon , the termi is a real treat honestly..
Ktm once had my 1190 for 6 weeks ....#justsaying.
They did loan me an RC8R though .

  8. Who are you getting bad service from? I don't think we should make a habit of keeping quiet - bad dealers need identifying so that other owners can avoid them.

For what it's worth, one of the first things I did to my bike was remove the servo flap from inside the exhaust. I've actually got a servo eliminator thing sat on the bench in the garage, still in the packet, I just haven't bothered to fit it. It was a bit of a pain to grind off the screw heads, but with the bike now approaching 13,000 miles I've not had a single issue.

  9. My 1200 Enduro flap is stuck open, doesn't seem to be a problem.
