1199 Explain The Upmap Process To A Simpleton

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by d8mok, Aug 6, 2014.

  1. Over winter ill be adding some termi cans. Ideally ill buy a lightly used set to save some wonga and fit them myself.

Now ive read that the upmap key is just a 1 minute job and easy to do yourself from home. Ive also read that it can only be used on one bike? But how do i know the upmap key has the correect map on it or has been used?

    thanks

  2. The upmap key unlocks the map that is already installed on the bike with all the fuelling settings etc. Once the upmap key has been up loaded to one particular bike it can't be used on any other unless it is uninstalled from the bike back to the upmap key. If you buy a second hand upmap key off ebay for instance you really only have the sellers word as to whether it is intact. There are two different upmap keys, one for the slip ons and one for the full system. You can test an upmap key by installing it to your bike and then uninstalling again even without fitting the exhausts. The slip on upmap shows 'Racing' on the dash when the ignition is switch on and the full system map shows 'Racing Evo', it really is only a two minute job and there are videos on youtube explaining the procedure. I will in a month or so have some Termi end cans plus upmap for an 1199 for sale that have done less than a thousand miles. If you're interested pm me.

  3. cheers for that. pm on its way

  4. How easy are the cans to fit? Do the kits come with a air filter ?

  5. took me about 3hrs quite tricky ,but rather have go than pay dealer £250,

  6. 3 hours? I assumed it was a quick easy job. Belly pan off, can off . Reverse.

  7. yeh belly pan and fairings off just to make it easier ,the hardest part was disconnecting the exup valve motor , as they give you a plug to put in , also disconnecting the fan supply ,then reconnect, the upmap is simple ,even for me takes a minute, go for it ,termis sound mint, the removal of cans little tricky as to where the fixings are, had to remove lhs gear lever assembly to loosen one, pm me your address I will post destructions for you to have a look if u want , think I can find them just return when done,

  8. It cost £120 for the dealer to fit them for me. It looks like a straight forward job but as we all know these things rarely are!.

  9. good price big m I would have got it done at that but not 4hrs labour at £66/hr

  10. Cheers for that. I'll let u know once I've secured a set. I'd rather fit myself than pay if I can.
