Previous to Assen trip - Steering lock failed - replacement ECU Post Assen trip - Temp started rising up to 110/112 - Now need replacement rad due to known batch fault > blockage Keyless fuel cap lock failure - Now need new fuel cap By my reckoning that's at least a grand's worth of replacement parts in the last 3 months
What mileage did the radiator go at Finn? Mine's just clocked up 7,000 & I'm off to Europe in Septemeber for a week so am starting to worry!!!!
Starting to think that in a few years time, bikes like the Multi, with it's complicated electroniky stuff, will be worth jack all secondhand. the failure rate is very high. maybe it will all get sorted eventually, but how long before dealers start to refuse to take them part-ex, and warranty firms start to refuse to cover the expensive bits?
They said that about electroniky stuff when they started fitting them to cars years ago. But all the gadgets and drivers aids are excepted as the norm now and I don't see car dealers turning many part-ex's away. As far as warranties from warranty firms are concerned wouldn't touch them with a barge pole anyway.
Hi Anthil, My bike is early 2010 model with 3500, Apparently rad issue may only apply to some early 2010 models - though i don't think Ducati know which due to no batch number for rads The bike will still run OK so i wouldn't worry too much. Just check if the temp starts running a lot higher - 110/112 - if one side of the rad is warm and the other cold then it may have the blockage Hope this helps, Finn
Yep, various threads on it on here, some peeps had problems with second hand bikes and transferring of warranty and being unable to raise the extended warranty, push hard and you can get it though, bout £300 I think? Maybe cheaper, was a fair while ago i got mine.
Major, car dealers may not turn p/x's away, but the trade in price is adjusted well down for vehicles with known problematic histories, anyone in the motor trade knows which cars to avoid as a secondhand buy, unless they are so cheap as to make it worth the risk. Ducati are selling a premium product, which is starting to get a reputation for some very expensive problems, fine while still under warranty, but after 4 or 5 years, watch what happens.
No you can take it to any dealer (got my bowed disc replaced eventually!). Mine is a June 2010 (13k miles) but thankfully the rad has been OK (fingers crossed). Incidentally, I was at Snells last weekend and they were telling me £500-550 for the 15K service which sounds better than I was expecting. Has anyone else had their 15K recently?
